Characters
Many times, we ourselves are the protagonists of our writing, but as the writer is fond of telling stories that do not happen to himself, will create more and more fictional characters.
When you have multiple characters, keep in mind that the protagonist must be one, that not all characters have to be equally important.
We must be clear who the protagonist , for the camera will follow him. The protagonist is the one more time you spend and the amount of information we give him. There may be two players at once, and this often happens with stories of feuding characters: protagonist and antagonist.
The corals stories are those in which there is no fixed character, but a story told through the eyes of the players that are living. The important thing here is a story, not a character and what happens. An example of coral story is The Lord of the Rings or A Song of Ice and Fire.
How to choose a character? The protagonist will determine the story told. It is not the same to tell the story of the sinking of the Titanic from the point of view of a rich than poor.
What is chosen first, the protagonist or the story? First, you must choose the action and then the character's lives. In the case of a character that fascinates us, you can always find the perfect story you can tell him. The latter is not recommended, because they can be cracked in writing.
Many times you want based on a real person , fascination either that person or because we believe it is appropriate for our writing. By building on real people, you have a model to describe your character, but the drawback to this is to confuse your character in the story with the real person, and thus, the fictional character to be burdened by the real character. For example, knowing that your grandfather Manuel would never do something real, and this stop you from your character perform what Manuel fictitious.
is always good to get dossier with information about the characters, especially the protagonist, although you all the information will never be used ever in history. With the dossier fact, we kept the character behaves in a manner inconsistent with himself.
The character names are really important: do not put names without having thought before, because a name must match the character of the character. Although you can also play with this by putting a personality opposite to what may inspire the name (for example, a very good-natured man named Don Severino). The last thing you choose the characters is the name you have. The names provide extra information, and are therefore so important.
There are many names that inspire stereotypes: John, Mike, Matt etc. inspired by modern youth. Mary, for example, is not a good name for a character, because it rhymes with a tense and there may be unintentional rhymes that alter the text (Mary knew that she ate macaroni).
regard to names, we must be careful with the time when the story unfolds. If today runs a story in a neighborhood, a child may be called Jonathan. However, if we put that name to her grandfather, living both in Spain, of course imagine that it is an Anglo-Saxon immigrant man.
The characters other than humans, should be named according to the animal that is: the mice should be named with mice, and tigers tiger names. A tiger, for example, should not be called Piliwilly (and yes, the theme of playing with the name. But putting that name so contrary to the character must be done thoroughly.)
The protagonists are not always those that tell the story: there are writers characters, who are telling the story that happens to another.
